David Hatch

David Hatch photoDavid wished he had taken up magic when he was still working as a children’s anesthetist at Great Ormond Street hospital. Sadly, he only took a serious interest in the subject on his retirement. In 2009 he successfully auditioned for the Magic Circle, where he is now the Welfare Officer. He has been a member of the Fellowship of Christian Magicians since 2008 and was secretary from 2011 to 2014. In 2014 he won the FCM Stage magic competition.

David performs under the stage name “Professor Whizzo”, www.profwhizzo.co.uk and has also developed a fascinating illustrated lecture/demonstration on the history of magic. He donates all his profits to charity.

David grew up in a Christian family, but his commitment to his Lord was strengthened in the 1970’s when he was asked to lead a group of 14 year old children who were too old for the Sunday school and were drifting away from his local church. He is currently on the Management Committee of the Redbridge Christian Education project. In 1983 he was a founder member of Woodford Wells Ecumenical church www.wwec.co.uk whose aim is to foster closer links between Christians of all denominations, and worships in the chapel of Bancroft’s School. He has found the use of magic helpful in bringing the Gospel to young people.
