Dear membership

You now have your very own LOGO. Please not that there are some strict guidelines for you to follow. This is to ensure that the LOGO maintains its integrity for the benefit of all members. You can access the high quality image and regulations via the LOGO page from the members menu. As FCMUK no longer exists we have also been asked by our American cousins to remove the FCMUK logo from any web pages or literature. We would also like to point out that the words “Christian Magicians UK” should be used. Please do not abbreviate to “CMUK” as this is used by another company and we wish to avoid confusion in web searches etc.

MAY 2016
NEW FORUM now open for business
David oconnor pictureFor those of you who were alive before facebook, there were such things as forums. These have several advantages over the facebook pages. The old forum was much loved and used well. There were a couple of issues. Hacks from outside on the servers and the time it took to moderate and run. The forum will if used properly provide an archive of understanding, a living library and we are happy to run one again on our members behalf. Watch out for The Big Bad Moderator and if its not used we will have to get rid of it due to the above mentioned efforts required. The forum requires you to have a username and password that are different to your members ones. Go to the contact pages and contact the membership secretary who will pass out the information required. There are over 150 of you and they have to be processed by hand one at a time. for this reason we will only set members up as and when they request access. We will be actively promoting it over the coming weeks. We hope this new forum will be as much loved as the last.
APRIL 2016
Committee and Steering Meeting coming soon
David oconnor pictureOn Sunday 1 May the steering group will be meeting to finalise the changes required for us to move forward as Christian Magicians UK. The four representatives of the committee (president, vice president, treasurer and membership secretary) will meet to discuss and formalise proposals that they feel will be in the best interest for you our members. These proposals will then be placed before the full committee on the Monday 2 May. We also have the small task of a conference to organise !A lot of the work has already been done with constant emails going back and forth, databases in the background of the website being put in place as well as the possibility of a new forum. So much is required that is unseen. A lot has been accomplished and its only been 8 weeks since conference. We would like to thank all those who have helped in this matter. Watch this space.

Sad News
Terry Lawton photoIt is with great sadness that we announce that Terry Lawton passed away peacefully at the start of April. This picture tells you everything you need to know about Terry. He found wonder in everybody and everything he met. Above all he promoted the wonder of our Lord with an exceptional enthusiasm, energy and kindness. We will always remember him with a smile because quite frankly its impossible to remember Terry in any other way
MARCH 2016
Barry in a box Dear All

Every journey starts with a single step and who would have thought our journey with the FCM would be such a long one? This year the FCMUK celebrated its 29th conference and all due to that single step we took with the FCM

Over that time the FCMUK has grown and change direction many times, but always with the same Christian ethos and the support of the FCM.

Just as a child grows up and leaves the family home, we now need to make the same move and continue the rest of the journey on our own.

Today at the AGM of the FCMUK, we voted unanimously to start the process of being an independent group under the working name of “Christian Magicians UK”

The possess won’t be a quick one. However we will have completed the change by the end of the year.

We wish the International FCM our best wishes for the future. We will still share and actively promote them on our website and news feeds so watch this space.

Stage Competition winner Steve Price
winner FCMUK stage competition 2016Congratulations to Steve price who was this years Stage competition winner. Steve is one of our most accomplished performers and this year was the toughest competitions we have had for a decade. The standard of all entries was extremely high with both UK and international acts represented. Steve combined some of his trademark set pieces with a simple message that really hit home with the audience and judges alike. Fantastic magic and simple Gospel from a true professional.
Comedy and Young Magician’s Awards
comedy and young macian, dennis and charlie Dennis Clark was winner of this years Pete McCahon Award for outstanding comedy. The comedy Award is not allocated every year and once nominated must be approved by committee. Not only was Dennis a winner of the award, but he was also a winner with the children’s group.Charlie was the deserved winner of the young magicians trophy for the second year running. Also winning the presidents award for “If we had an award for open mic Charlie would have won it award”Charlie was up against some stiff competition this year as Dennis was also nominated for the young magicians award!  It was good to see so many youngsters at the conference this year showing off their remarkable skills.
Volker De Hass receives lifetime honorary membership
Volker in 2016 stage showIt is with great pleasure that the committee would like to announce the awarding of lifetime membership to Volker De Hass. Volker has been a very supportive member of the FCMUK and FCM Germany. He is a very accomplished magician, teacher and friend to all at conference. This year despite having to fly in from Germany Volker took a masterclass in the linking rings, provided us with  delightful stage puppet and magic presentation and gave a full two hour lecture to the children’s group on science and magic. Truly dedicated to magic being not just tricks but an art form we are proud and privileged to permanently call him one of our own.
